Vaccinations for Adults: Are You Up to Date?

When we think about vaccines, we often associate them with childhood. But staying protected doesn’t stop when you grow up. In fact, adult vaccinations are a crucial part of maintaining good health, especially as our immune system changes over time.

Why adult vaccinations matter:
Vaccines don’t just protect you — they also help protect your family, coworkers, and community from the spread of infectious diseases. Some illnesses, like shingles or pneumonia, are more likely to affect adults and seniors, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Vaccines adults should consider:

  • Flu vaccine – yearly protection against seasonal influenza
  • Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) – with boosters every 10 years
  • Shingles vaccine – recommended for adults over 50
  • Pneumococcal vaccine – especially important for those 65 and older
  • COVID-19 booster shots – as recommended by health authorities

Tip: Not sure what vaccines you’ve had? Your primary care provider can help review your immunization records and recommend any catch-up shots.
